Once considered the worst coastal property in the state by the Illinois State Geological Survey, this private residence required massive restoration work for its bluff and ravine. Shabica & Associates designed a breakwater beach as well as a flat-topped revetment incorporating stone steps to provide access to the water. A hillside tram was installed to provide access to the beach without installing an extensive stair system on the high steep bluff. Additionally, the property’s ravine was restored with the installation of small quarrystone to replace the lost streambed armor. |
