Bluff Restoration & Stabilization |
Bluff: a high steep bank Bluff Toe: base of bluff |
Three criteria must be met to help stabilize a bluff: · Protected Bluff Toe Foundation · Healthy Slope Vegetation · Proper Tableland and Slope Drainage
A bluff that goes unprotected or uninspected can lead to serious erosion problems and possible loss of tableland. Shabica & Associates can help to stabilize a bluff and meet the needs of the client. Depending on site conditions, a bluff can either be restored to its native condition or can be stabilized through engineering. Once the slope is stable, enhancements such as stairs, patios, walkways or trams can be designed to increase usability.
MAINTENANCE AND ENHANCEMENTS ADD GREATLY TO THE VALUE OF THE PROPERTY · Well-drained bluff slopes create an ideal environment for native wildflowers and shrubs · Engineered stair systems on a slope provide pedestrian access to the base of the slope, and can be enhanced with viewing decks, seating and entertainment areas · A tram (hillside elevator) provides easy access for people with limited mobility
